I received my bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Virginia and my naturopathic doctorate degree from National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. In addition to working as a physician at Docere, I am a teacher of Anatomy and Physiology and a mother of a vivacious 6 year old girl. As a young girl, I had dreams of becoming an Ob/Gyn, as the process of pregnancy and delivery fascinated me. As I ventured down the clear path of my vision, there seemed to be a discrepancy between what I was learning about the medical industry and how I viewed the body. I have a strong belief in the body’s ability to heal, and the road to conventional medical school seemed to not support this idea. When I encountered the Principles of Naturopathic Medicine while in my final few months at UVa, I felt a resonance so strong that I never questioned my next step in life. When I discovered that I could train as a home-birth naturopathic midwife, I packed my bags for the West Coast. While at NCNM, I was fortunate enough to study natural childbirth and experience the miracle myself. At this time, I am enjoying my practice as a physician at Docere, my dedication as a teacher, and the gift of motherhood. In addition, I offer my services as a birth educator and coach for couples who would like more support through their experience in pregnancy and labor. As a general practitioner, I have become the physician for many of the children I have witnessed entering this world and their families. In addition to these practices, I enjoy hiking (especially here in the Pacific Northwest, dancing, cooking, gardening, reading, and always learining new things. |
